N.M. Deputy, Police Aides Intentionally Run Over Outside Event

A man suspected of intoxicated driving is accused of hitting a Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy and two police service aides outside of the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque.

A New Mexico man is accused of intentionally running down a deputy and two police service aides outside an event over the weekend.

The incident happened during the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, KRQE-TV reports. Brandon Baldwin, 36, allegedly struck two police aides who were directing traffic around the event.

As Baldwin continued driving he also struck a Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy who had tried to stop the man. Police finally were able to stop Baldwin, and they discovered two open containers of alcohol in his vehicle.

Baldwin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated and other counts.
